It’s awfully hard to write about myself. So hard that I’ve taken until now to actually get around to doing it.
I’ve taken a long strange journey through life. Some things, like my wife, have been very constant for the last several years. Other things, like my career, have been in constant change. My jobs have been everything from a development engineer, to a project manager for the government, and currently I run marketing for the free dating site DownToEarth.com. It’s a strange combination of creativity and analytics. For that matter I was the only one in my high school that took AP Calculus and AP art. It’s more fun to be diverse, and for that matter it’s more interesting as well.
I guess I’m just one of those people that just stays busy in a great number of ways. With two children and a demanding job it makes for a busy life. However, I’m not willing to give up having a good time for all of the rest of what I do. My friends are very important to me and I’m a partial season ticket holder to the Dallas Stars. For me, it is all about trying to squeeze the most out of life that I can.
My heroes are people like Seth Godin and Malcolm Gladwell. I’d also list Charlie Trotter and Robert Mondavi. All are visionary mavericks that make you question your assumptions about life. It’s easy to admire anyone that just makes to think. That’s something we all do far too infrequently.
A favorite quote would be from Timothy Leary – “Think for yourself, Question Authority, even what you just heard”
If there is a purpose to this blog, beyond self-promotion and catharsis, it would be to offer some ideas for ways to deal with an exceedingly busy life. I don’t plan to slow down. Who needs sleep anyway?
